The Chew Proof Armored Crate Pad can be easily wiped down, but if the bed is starting to smell or if there's been an accident on it and it needs a more thorough cleaning, you can machine wash it. You'll need a 4.5 mm hex wrench to open the corners, and from there you can slide the material out from the frame. Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle, then machine dry on low heat until fully dried before putting it back on the frame. Do not wash or dry with high heat, as this could cause shrinkage that makes reassembly impossible.

For urine, vomit, or other strong odors, we recommend adding a quarter cup of distilled white vinegar to the wash in place of fabric softener. This will naturally break down any stubborn or lingering odors. Soaking the pad in a mix of white vinegar and water for at least an hour prior to washing will also help remove any older or ingrained odors.
