How do I take apart a Chew Proof Armored bed?Updated 9 months ago

To disassemble the frame of one of our armored beds, the only tool you need is a 4.5 hex wrench. Follow these steps:

1. If your bed has legs, unscrew the legs by twisting them off by hand
2. Unscrew the bolt in each corner using the hex wrench (1 bolt per corner, for 4 bolts total)
3. Open the corners by lifting the top bracket from the bottom, or slide the frame pieces out 
4. Slide the fabric out of the frame pieces
5. Remove the rods from the sleeve of the center fabric (4 rods total)
   • Do not discard rods, as we do not carry or sell extras
6. The fabric can now be washed (cold water on delicate only, air dry or machine dry low heat) or replaced with a new sling.
   • If replacing with new sling, use the rods from the old fabric sleeves to fill out the sleeves of the new fabric.

Disassembly is not recommended for our mesh or vinyl beds, as these materials have very little give and will be very difficult to get back onto the frame by hand.
