They can be! However, it really depends on what style of bed you get, as different styles have different closures, and for some the zippers are very exposed while for others the zippers are well-hidden and protected. Some of our beds have no zippers at all, and may be the best bet if you have a pup that is very determined to get at a bed's zipper. Here's a broad overview of our dog beds' closures:

Dual Closure Beds

Dual closure beds are a great option for zipper destroyers. These beds feature a zipper that is hidden behind a thick, industrial-strength strip of hook-and-loop fastener. The dual closure system is tucked on the underside of the bed, making it even less accessible. The following beds feature a dual closure system:

Single Closure Beds (Zipper only)

Single closure beds feature a single zipper closure, typically (but not always) along the bottom edges of the bed. They are best for well-behaved dogs, or dogs that prefer to scratch and dig apart their bedding, rather than chew on it. The single closure allows for an easier assembly and disassembly process (and thus make the beds easier to clean), but they are more vulnerable to chewers. The following beds feature a zipper-only closure:
